5 Keys to finding a good chiropractor

How would you go about finding a good chiropractor in your area and what do you look for?

I get this question in my office all the time from patients that live out of the area and in other states. I thought I would list the top five things to look for in choosing a chiropractor. I am going to make some basic assumptions that the doctor holds a current license and is in good standing with the respective board in his or her state and has a business license to practice in their particular city. Not only should he or she should be very personable and be a good listener but here is a list of habits you should look for in your next chiropractor.

1. The chiropractor performs an evaluation and reviews your current imaging studies prior to initiaspine1ting treatment. If there are no current imaging studies and they are clinically indicated, those studies are taken prior to initiation of treatment.

2. He or she should answer all your questions, including questions about duration and cost of treatment.

3. You, the patient should be qualified for treatment. In other words, not everyone is a candidate for chiropractic manipulation. There may something on your imaging studies that put you at risk, find out first.

4. Your treatments should not be painful during or after your visits. You should not be in pain while you are being treated or you feel increasing pain in the days following treatment. In other words, your doctor should have good hands.

5. Your treatment should be customized to your individual needs. You may need massage therapy or acupuncture in conjunction with your care. Physical therapy may be indicated too. In other words, your doctor must be willing to refer to other specialties. If he or she thinks they can cure everything with an adjustment, you should probably find a new doctor.

I hope these tips help and if you would like to speak with me personally. I welcome the opportunity. You can reach me at 949-631-5226 ext 11 We are located at 2664 Newport Blvd Costa Mesa, CA 92627 .
